1) I am married to a Thai and have worked extensively in South East Asia in my full time career as a Surveyor. I love the people, culture and atmosphere of that part of the world and we are hoping to set up our own language school in the area once I finish working in the UK.

I have never taught in anger but am confident that the guidelines and techniques I have picked up in the time I have been doing the course and studying the various modules coupled with the myriad resources available on the internet should allow me to hold my own against a class.

I was very impressed with the speed in marking of the modules and guidance and comments received from the various academy tutors.

Being able to intimately examine to your own native language is certainly an eye opening exercise and is something more people should undertake.

I have not yet applied for a position but receive regular e-mails from the academy with potential offers

I guess only time will tell and we will have to see how I perform once I am thrown to the wolves so to speak☺

Very good service provided the teachers were always available and offered feedback constantly, and the assignments were very relevant and helpful at all times, I would definitely recommend this course for everyone and the certificate came very quick.

I really enjoyed my Tefl learning. The course was recommended by a friends and after reading reviews I knew it was well thought of and respected. I went to the weekend in Liverpool and met an interesting and eclectic group of friendly people. The tutor was great with lots of experience. It taught practical skills and was really enjoyable. The days were long but we had enough refreshment breaks. Afterwards I was really keen to get the full qualification. It took me nearly 6 months to complete but due to working full time and busy lifestyle I was pleased with my efforts and very happy with the qualification. They seem to offer lots of support afterwards so I’ll be employed in no time!

The TEFL course is a fantastically balanced program that covers an expansive range of material. Both the 20 hour weekend module and the 100 hours to complete online were extremely thorough and sufficient in providing information to complete the corresponding assignments and grammar exam. The course takes you through step by step, one module at a time, and it is clearly marked and well set out. The content provided online is more than sufficient to help with writing the module assignments. They offer valuable tips for EFL teachers and draw awareness to certain areas that may not be of common knowledge, or that are not considered when teaching students in a foreign language.

The course can be completed at your own pace, which is great for those that can’t dedicate lots of time per week. I found it helpful to read through the module content, make notes and then mull over my assignment before actually writing it a day or two later. Feedback is also very quick, I think the longest I waited was three days, a great benefit if you are wanting to complete the course within a certain time frame. I would recommend this course as it is a fun, relaxed way to learn how to teach English as a foreign language. It has inspired me to pursue my teaching career and has given me confidence to breach further afield.

For an online course, I believe the quality was very good. Obviously it’s hard to get practice at teaching on an online course, but this was covered in an obligatory 2 days with a tutor. After finishing the course, I think it’s not too difficult to get a job with this qualification.

Depending on which assessor marked your piece of work, you received different amounts of feedback – this is not a problem for many people, but I like to know where I’ve gone wrong on a piece of work if I don’t get 100%. However, many of the assessors were very good.

If you don’t finish the course in the time limit (of one year), you can pay for an extension, which are affordably priced.

There was no job placement, but the course didn’t offer one – that is the reason for the low score.

It is an enjoyable course!

I turned up at Jury’s Inn in Brighton not knowing what to expect but was very pleasantly surprised. The tutor Joe Piercy was excellent. He taught us a great deal in a fun and relaxed way but he could be incisive and rigorous when necessary.

I found the assignments very stimulating. The assignment information was excellent. There was a good mixture of practical work such as planning and schemes of work and also the philosophy behind TEFL teaching. It’s given me the confidence to consider my next step in TEFL. I cannot judge on ‘job placement’ yet as I’ve only just finished the course-so just gave it an average. The feedback was prompt and to the point but sometimes a bit general- a sort of written version of the mark you got. I found the grammar test harder than I expected but that has made me want to get it right. Overall I would really recommend this course.

I have just finished my TEFL course and I thoroughly enjoyed the learning process.

I really want to start travelling as soon as possible.

I hope I will be able to get a job using this certificate as I do not have a degree and I worry that I won’t be as marketable as other TEFL job seekers.

The course is very thorough in my opinion and it was great meeting other people on the course who wanted to travel.

I do think a follow up day would be good or to have the 20 hour teaching practice days after Module 2 or 3.

But I cannot praise the TEFL academy enough thanks so much for such a wonderful experience. I have loved it so much I am contemplating doing a Part time College Degree course to open the world up to me.

Thanks for everything it’s been super

I opted to take my TEFL course with the TEFL Academy based on the good reviews I had read about it and I am very glad I did. I was very apprehensive as I sat in a room full of silent people waiting for the first day to begin, but within moments the tutor had broken the ice perfectly and made everybody feel at ease. She was warm, friendly, knowledgable and assuring and that filled me with confidence. If anybody is like how I was and doesn’t know a thing about grammar I would advise you to look into it prior to your first day (past perfect, simple present etc etc) because it can be slightly embarrassing when you come to do group work and you are the one who doesn’t have a clue and other people do, so I suggest you read up a bit about it first to give you the upper hand. You will need to learn more about it when you do the online part of the course anyway so it’s better to do it first. Coming to the online part of the course, It took me a while to get into doing the essays since it’s a while since I last did one, but I advise you to go to a library and get a couple of sources as the markers liked that I had used resources other as the internet. Also, the lesson plans took a bit of getting used to but that is expected as I had never done anything like them before. Overall, it took me about seven weeks to complete but I wasn’t really working a lot so had more time than most people would. I would say that you don’t really need the books that they try to sell you, in fact I was the only person in my class who had bought them so when they say you need then, just know you don’t. Also I had to pay extra for a digital copy of my certificate at the end which was quite annoying but I needed it quicky for a job I had applied for and was away from home so couldn’t use my hard copy so just paid it. However, I can’t really complain because the course is really pretty cheap and everything else about it great so I am very happy I chose to take it with the TEFL Academy.

I completed my course and passed my assignments this week.

I was very pleased with the 2 x 10 hour days and the 9 assignments and associated materials.

The feedback was constructive and was accompanied by helpful guidance.

I am a nurse and may wish to teach foreign nurses as well as embark on 1:1 teaching of beginner and intermediate adults coming to this country for touring adventures.

A worthwhile course with prospects for career development.

Well done TEFL Academy!
