Description
Maximo Nivel’s award winning TEFL Certification Program is a thorough and practical introduction to Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). During the 150-hours 4-week course, you become familiar with the principles of successful ESL teaching and you develop real-world skills to be an effective English teacher. The TEFL program focuses on practical teaching, lesson planning, classroom management, and more. The training program includes 100 hours of in-class instruction, 35 hours of required reading and written assignments, and 15 hours of observation and practical teaching.
Practical teaching is the heart of the TEFL Certification program. You begin teaching mini-lessons in week 1 and continue throughout the course. There are also various, short workshops where you practice specific teaching techniques and strategies. The TEFL course also includes 6 hours where you observe experienced ESL teachers leading their classes. In the final week of the TEFL course, you take over a live English class with real, non-native students, and teach 60-minute lessons for 5 days, during which you are observed and coached by your TEFL Trainer. In all you will have 15 hours of practical teaching and observation during the course.

My month in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica was AMAZING! I didn’t know what to expect of my TEFL course, so I was pleasantly surprised. Its a tough class, but so worth it. I have no background in teaching whatsoever, but by the end of practice teaching week I had no doubt in my mind that I could be, not just a teacher, but a good teacher. The curriculum is tough, and grammar day wasn’t my favorite, but I learned more in four weeks with Maximo Nivel than I’ve learned in an entire year in college. The staff at the school are amazing; they are so kind and helpful with anything you need. My TEFL teacher is incredible. She not only taught well, but her feedback was honest and super helpful! She was always available and willing to look over my work. Finding a job can be time consuming, but again, my TEFL teacher was always there to give me advice, point me in the right direction and make sure my CV was on point. I am so happy that I took this course. Not to mention you get to spend a month in a crazy gorgeous place!
