Description
Maximo Nivel’s award winning TEFL Certification Program is a thorough and practical introduction to Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). During the 150-hours 4-week course, you become familiar with the principles of successful ESL teaching and you develop real-world skills to be an effective English teacher. The TEFL program focuses on practical teaching, lesson planning, classroom management, and more. The training program includes 100 hours of in-class instruction, 35 hours of required reading and written assignments, and 15 hours of observation and practical teaching.
Practical teaching is the heart of the TEFL Certification program. You begin teaching mini-lessons in week 1 and continue throughout the course. There are also various, short workshops where you practice specific teaching techniques and strategies. The TEFL course also includes 6 hours where you observe experienced ESL teachers leading their classes. In the final week of the TEFL course, you take over a live English class with real, non-native students, and teach 60-minute lessons for 5 days, during which you are observed and coached by your TEFL Trainer. In all you will have 15 hours of practical teaching and observation during the course.

I completed my TEFL certification at Maximo Nivel’s Cusco, Peru location. The experience was amazing. The setting and resources were great, and provided me with everything I needed. I did not opt for housing through Maximo during the course, but my classmates who did had no complaints. The difference between my experience here, and the experiences of my friends who have gotten their certification elsewhere, has to be in the instructor. She was fun, she was knowledgeable, and she was 100% there for her clients. I felt prepared for my practical teaching during the course, and I feel prepared to teach going forward.
