I gained great insight into the EFL industry from many angles. I felt very enlightened on theories, grammar and methods of lesson planning. The course materials provided for each module was very informative and helpful, and thus directed me well. I particularly appreciated seeing templates and examples of lesson plans and schemes of work.

The 20-hour weekend was also a very helpful and insightful experience as it gave slight tasters of what it would be like to prepare and deliver competent lessons and activities. The tutor at the time was both very enthusiastic and knowledgeable with much great experience to draw from.

I had great balanced feedback from tutors as to what I did well and what I could work on. This boosted my confidence very rapidly. The feedback was also very prompt and I mostly received it within 48 hours after submitting assignments.

This course has also directed me to some very good jobsites (including tefl.net and ESL Cafe) where I see a lot of positions being advertised. Overall, I am very glad to have completed this course.

As this was the first time I had participated in an online course I was pleasantly surprised at the ease at which you could follow the course. It is extremely informative and split into manageable size modules. Each of these was extremely interesting, and as I hadn’t learnt English for a few years found that these really brushed up my knowledge of English grammar. I enjoyed the aspect of not knowing what was coming next in the course, so I could concentrate on one part at a time.

The feedback from assignments was extremely informative. I am looking to move to Spain in the near future and this course and the excellent feedback will make my life in my new role as a TEFL teacher very interesting and productive. It was a brilliant course which I have now already recommended to friends and family.

I’ve completed the 120 hour online TEFL course so I can’t give ratings for the Practice Teaching and Job Placement criteria.

I found the course to be well structured and like the fact that you cannot progress until you have passed the end of module test. The course is self-paced which allows you to go at a pace which suits you and your lifestyle and other commitments.

A few years ago I gained a tutoring qualification from a University where I was working and wanted to take this further. When we moved to another country the opportunity to take this course presented itself and it luckily fitted in with my schedule.

I have been giving language tuition on a casual basis and for fun, so doing the course has helped me focus more on the teaching and understanding the needs of students. I’m sure it will be very useful in the future.

I felt that the course was brilliant, the material was comprehensive and very clear. All of the tests and assignments were a good and proper test of the material covered and all of the material within each module was very well laid out and explained. The grammar section which is the most intricate and difficult to understand was very well described and explained which made it very easy to digest and learn. I was very impressed with the layout of the course and how comprehensive it was. It covered all facets of the language and the expectations of being a language teacher. I cannot rate this course highly enough; every step of the way they are helpful and informative and they truly do want you to pass. All of the information is there with the correct guidance with which to succeed.

The face-to-face element of the course with a proper TEFL teacher was very well done, it was interesting and very informative. My particular tutor was very clear in his explanations and expectations for TEFL students, his manner was superb and he was very useful.

I have considered doing a TEFL course for a while and only this year did I finally decide to do it and I am so happy that I did, a really fun and interesting experience which opens up so many opportunities for me now.

I cannot recommend this course highly enough, fantastic!

I would encourage any interested person in joining The TEFL Academy.

I have just finished the 120 hours certificate and it has been a very rewarding journey. First of all, I did the 20 hours course with a fantastic trainer and then the rest of the hours with an online course. The syllabus is well designed and the contents are easy to understand in a very enjoyable way.

The assignments are also very interesting and overall I feel confident to embrace a new career.

I decided to do the TEFL course after hearing fantastic reviews about it from friends who had completed TEFL and travelled the world with it. I found the 20 hour classroom experience very beneficial. I was nervous beginning as I had not been in a classroom environment in over twenty years, but there was immense support and everything was explained in a way that I could comprehend. It was also great fun. The modules are laid out in a way that aids learning and I found it really interesting to learn more about grammar and tenses. I wasn’t only brushing up on information previously learned but also learning so much more throughout the process. I completed my course in under six weeks and cannot wait to put all that I have learned to good use. TEFL opens up many opportunities throughout the world and I am looking forward to new ventures. I would highly recommend this course for anyone looking to upskill and travel.

I am very happy with the whole TEFL course. It was very intense and I learned a lot from it. I can understand the English language much better myself now that I figured out the grammar rules and irregularities. Also it made me look at the average competencies of the possible students and I learned how to find this out in diplomatic ways.

It really struck me as very important to understand why the student wants to learn English. Following up on the answer to this is what makes the lessons a worthwhile venture or a waste of precious time. I certainly feel that learning to teach English through TEFL has been a well worth it experience and I would recommend it to anyone whether they want to teach it themselves afterwards or not.

Practice is what I need now so I hope someone will give me the opportunity to help them learn English and thus help them to communicate freely with their English speaking peers. When at the end of a course you have a good feeling about it and are glad you did it then it is something to tell others about. I will definitely be telling my friends about TEFL.

My journey with the TEFL academy began in Nottingham when taking the practical side of the course. Our tutor Judy, was extremely welcoming, friendly and competent. She was able to teach a vast amount of information in a fun and interactive way, with limited time. She also gave us a lot of information on books and resources to use; whilst talking about her personal experiences as a EFL teacher.

The online side of the course was very easy to follow and highly informative. If I had any problems, all I had to do was create a support ticket and my query was answered promptly. I must admit, I didn’t believe I would do so well on the course but it just goes to show that all the foundations were made to do so! I haven’t yet begun my search for jobs although there seems to be sites available to do so from the online platform. Only thing I would say, is whether there should be more of an official placement system in place? Overall, the course was worth all the time and money spent! Thank you to the TEFL Academy.

I stumbled upon The TEFL Academy website just over a year ago and, looking back now, I can safely say that choosing to complete a TEFL qualification with them was one of the best decisions I have ever made. The classroom component of the course was extremely enjoyable. I met some lovely, like-minded people and the teacher was engaging and extremely informative. A lot of information was packed into those 20 hours but, even so, I was sad for it to be over. The teaching I received over this weekend was the perfect lead-in to the rest of the course and made me want to persevere. The lengthy time-scale allowed for the 100 hour online component permitted me to go at my own pace, which I was extremely grateful for given that I was also completing my final undergraduate year at university. I used the full 12 months to complete the course, but did not feel that the extended time period hindered my progress, as the module reading at each stage reminded me of what I needed to know. The course materials were extensive and provided all of the necessary information needed to complete each assessment. The feedback was excellent, as the tutors explained where I had gone wrong or what to revise when putting my lesson plans into action. I was a bit apprehensive about completing the grammar test but found that I had no reason to fear as I was well-prepared after having followed the module reading and instructions. I cannot give an extensive review on the job placement side as I am not currently looking for work in this area but The TEFL Academy has provided me with so much support and information that I think I would have no trouble should I choose to pursue a career in this area. Even though I do not plan on using the qualification immediately, I am glad I chose to complete the course as it taught me some valuable and transferrable skills, was a joy to complete, and opens my possibilities for my future now that I am leaving university.

The face to face element of the TEFL course was pretty intense, but an excellent preparation for the online course. It was also good to meet people from different walks of life and see how they interpreted the tasks. I felt more practice teaching would have been useful, but given the tight timescale probably not possible. Given that I didn’t do the online course until 10 months later, but could still recall the instructor’s tips/points, is a credit to her teaching.

The online course was really interesting and the fact that I had to make a couple of re-submissions, was due to me not reading the brief properly and not poor materials! There was a lot of personal research that had to be done to complete each module, from which I learned a great deal.

One point that I think should be made clear to students is that when they do the lesson plan modules they must create their own plan and not base it on an existing plan. At the face to face session the instructor promoted the vast resource that the internet offers. Of course, it’s no bad thing to set something up from scratch.

All in all I enjoyed the TEFL course and look forward to putting it into practice.
