I have just completed my 120 hour Tefl course. I found this course to be challenging and very informative and is devised in such a manner to be as useful as possible. Each module dove tails seamlessly and I found it to be tremendously useful and interesting particularly the grammar aspects. I am a native English speaker and I haven’t taught before so i’m looking forward to putting my newly acquired skills to use! Many thanks to all the team at the Tefl academy who are very helpful and supportive a brilliant course.

I was looking for an online course as there wasn’t much to choose from close to where I live that didn’t charge exorbitant fees. I chose The TEFL Academy after looking at several. I researched their credentials and compared prices and thought that at least for the cost aspect, I had nothing to lose.

I was impressed with the quality of the lessons which were very thorough. It wasn’t as easy as I thought it might be which I appreciated as, that way, I knew I was learning something new all the time. As a former teacher I needed to learn the new methodology and lesson plan formats and that is where I especially appreciated the thoroughness.

Like anything, you get what you put into it. You could pass the course but to really get the most out of what it has to offer it’s a good idea to read all the extra links for research that they provided at the end of all the modules. They each had a purpose and I’m confident that they are part of the reason that I got the grades that I did. A lot were useful in preparing my end of course assignments and I know I will use some in preparing my lessons going forward.

Even though we are at opposite time zones, (I’m in Canada), the feedback always came quickly and they throughly answered my questions. The end of course assignment’s feedback was very detailed and, to me, showed how throughly my assignments were scrutinized. That was very much appreciated as I wanted to be sure, at the end of it all, that I had actually grasped what the course had been trying to teach me.

All in all, I know there are more “elite” courses out there but I can’t imagine being more satisfied with what I learnt and how I learnt it (though there were many times that I thought I’d never wrap my head around the concept), but, in the end, it worked and I did.

I can’t comment on the classroom instruction as I only took the online course due to my location, nor, the job placement as I have just finished the course and am just starting to look for online work.

As a ‘mature student’ I was a little apprehensive about ‘putting myself out there again’ – despite having taught for many years. For the last six years I have taken a ‘passive role’ as a creator of educational resources for the school market so the thought of teaching again was a bit scary – to say nothing of my concerns at ‘keeping up with the youngsters’ mentally (I have no fears physically as I am a dance instructor!)

The two-day induction course was a bit of a baptism of fire for me – being a student again took me right out of my comfort zone. But once I had overcome my initial fears I actually ended up really enjoying myself and gleaned a great deal from the experience. I had to overcome the same initial ‘anxieties’ when tackling the course on line as, I have to confess, it was a lot harder than I had been expecting! However, again, everything went much better than anticipated and with high marks secured at the end of the course, it was just the confidence boost I needed to return to teaching.

So a big thank you to the course organizers – for putting a spring back into this ex-teacher’s stride! I am genuinely looking forward to working though I recognize that getting a job will undoubtedly prove the greatest challenge. But it’s good to feel ready for that challenge – so again, I thank the TEFL Academy for making this potential career move possible for me.

I thoroughly enjoyed studying 120 hours on-line with TEFL Academy. The e-learning platform was easy to access and very intuitive. The course content was very appropriate, engaging and encouraging to take some independent research, which I really enjoyed doing.

In the 20 hours class session, the tutor was very helpful, knowledgeable and inspiring. Definitely his example stayed with me.

I will love to recommend TEFL academy to anyone whom is interested in pursuing their dream of teaching English as a foreign language, either abroad or at home; and whom is intolerable to the big amounts of paper work some other bodies might require of you for the same qualification!

The whole course has exceeded my expectations. The online course had extensive coverage of all topics and the notes really helped me up my knowledge. The practical 20 hours was also extremely helpful to learn new ideas and hear stories and advice from the trainer.

would 100% recommend to anyone.

I really enjoyed the course. The trainer was very clear and helpful and the online part of the course was easy to follow and useful. There was plenty of guidance during and after the course was completed. I now feel confident that I can persue my dream to teach TEFL abroad

The Course was truly impressive and exceeded my expectations.

The online course was so well structured and user friendly it enabled me to move effortlessly through each module and the respective activities.

Even the biggest technophobes would find the course easy to follow and it was very clear how to log in and pick up from your previous stage of work.

The content, especially Module 3 with the detailed grammar tuition was so well constructed and no stone was left unturned. At the end of each module the controlled test was pertinent to what you had just studied and all the references for further reading/examples were very comprehensive.

i really liked the summary of your progress through the stages with your module marks and running %s etc. It really enhanced one’s motivation and engaged you in your progress throughout the course.

The weekend course was equally impressive and well structured, flowing at the right pace.

Lynne, the tutor was a delight to be taught buy with her funny anecdotes, incisive teaching points and humour. It was challenging especially the teaching practice activities but she approached it all in such a way that it constantly engaged myself and my fellow participants who have now become good friends.

I went on to get a distinction in the course and I owe much of that to the quality of the course.

Having passed the course the biggest challenge is finding a teaching assignment. i have inquired with a few schools in Spain but it seems they are only interested in teachers with experience. This is where the after course support is critical in guiding students to get the experience required. I believe the TEFL Academy provide job boards/CV preparation etc. and is something I need to investigate further as I it is important to utilise the qualfication as soon as possible after attaining it.

I have been teaching English in France for three years and took this course to formalise my qualifications. I started using the practical strategies taught in the TEFL course for teaching English as soon as I started the course and was really impressed by how effective and useful I found all the different aspects of the course. The course was educative, enriching and I am really glad I decided to take it.

I completed my TEFL course over the summer and head out to China next week for my first teaching job! The online course was great, easy to follow and with plenty of resources to help you along the way. I also found the 2 day practical course far more useful than I had first thought, and it was great to get some experience with the group standing up in front of a class and leading a lesson. Any questions I had were answered promptly by the tutors and feedback was helpful. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

I found the course to be interesting, enlightening and challenging. I enjoyed the on-line modules and also learnt a lot; the format is efficient as well as being user friendly. The assignments were very useful as they brought all of what I had learnt on the modules together and made me visualize what it would be like to plan and deliver lessons.

I have just completed the 20 hours in class. Our tutor Chris was very knowledgeable and generous with his time. It was invaluable to meet and spend time with fellow students. Although the 10 hour days were intensive the time seemed to go very quickly and everyone was positive and happy with what had been achieved by Sunday evening.

Overall this is a very good course and I would have no hesitation in recommending it to others.
