Our Research led us to Vantage
In Thailand, there are a myriad of TEFL courses offered throughout the country. So, with that said, which one does a prospective ESL teacher choose? My wife and I read all of the reviews. Some said, “play on the beach while you take our course,” while another one mentioned, “take in the sites of the city as you learn.” Well, for us, their slogans just sounded like it didn’t facilitate any rigorous or comprehensive learning.
We then decided to just visit the different schools. As we researched, it started to boil down to only a few. For us, they had to be internationally recognized and accredited by a reputable educational Institution. Secondly, they had to have more than just a couple of hours of actual teaching practice. Thirdly, the trainers not only had to meet, but exceed stringent academic requirements for teaching ESL.
Finally, we found a TEFL course that met all of these expectations and more, Vantage. The course training was highly professional and vigorous. We can say, “Forget about your weekends for the duration.”
Class size was relatively small so we received personal instruction all along the way. The main instructor, Chris, has an extensive background in teaching English. He is an accomplished language teacher focused on the students’ overall learning for gist of the entire process of teaching others a second language. In addition, he has a great sense of humor which makes the class fun and interesting.
The other trainers were just as skilled and proficient. We learned how to format a “power resume” to help a prospective teacher stand out amongst other applicants to help land your first job. Furthermore, we had a trainer that focused on some basic conversation of the Thai language as well as some of the important cultural norms.
Besides receiving detailed education on lesson plans, grammar review, and classroom management to name just a few; overall, we feel that Vantage has provided us the necessary tools and a solid foundation to begin teaching ESL to others. If all of this sounds like it meets your certification needs in a TEFL course, then look no farther, attend Vantage!
