From the very first day of application, the support was excellent. Punctual, efficient and very helpful information from all the staff.

The practical part in Plymouth was first class, along with the support during the 100 hours on line module tests.

Many thanks. Highly recommendable.

I am a 60 year old woman and newly retired. I wanted to do all the things I never could do because of my career and family commitments. Going to Peru to teach English was one of them. I chose The TEFL Academy as it provided the required number of hours of teacher training in the classroom. I’m a bit old fashioned and like face-to-face contact. I was all in favour of an intensive course so i could get started on my travels as soon as possible.

I found the weekend course entertaining and interesting. The tutor was marvellous with all of us, telling teaching stories and making us all laugh. I thoroughly enjoyed it and completed the classroom part of the assessment successfully.

The online part of the course took much less time than the allotted year and with help from the online tutors I passed the modules in roughly 3 weeks. I was incredibly lucky to find a job through The TEFL Academy’s jobs board in Peru within 5 days of completing the course. They told me they didn’t get too many jobs from Peru, so I finished just at the right time. I’m due to fly over in 6 weeks’ time, I cannot wait!

I have completed a few online courses in the past, and I have to say, this has been the best one by far. I work night shifts and I am also completing a degree, this is why I chose The TEFL Academy, because I could complete the assignments and submit it online in my own time.

Initially I was skeptical in regards to receiving prompt feedback, and marking of submitted assignments. I am glad I was proved wrong. Generally, I only had to wait about three to four days to receive my grade and feedback for each module.

The feedback was constructive and informative i.e. strengths and weaknesses and how I could apply the improvements within my teaching practice.

I can honestly say, that I didn’t think I would receive my certificate so quickly, but I received my feedback on the Wednesday for the final module, and I had my certificate the following day! I was so pleased.

Before I completed the course, I did lack the confidence in thinking that I could teach any age group, so I only considered teaching adults, thanks to this course, I am now open to the idea of teaching any age group, as I feel much more confident in my own ability.

I would like to give a tip for those who are thinking of going on this course, please take the feedback you receive on board, remember its not just a course where once your finished with it, job done. The feedback is there to help you learn from your mistakes and apply it in your own practice, to make you a better teacher, therefore your students will benefit too.

I personally have learnt so much from the course, and I think that is because I read the course materials and conducted my own research, and not solely relying on the TEFL materials.

Furthermore, this course is just the foundation, the real learning begins once you start to teach. I have learnt to never be afraid to try something new, as long as its relevant and it benefits your students, then implement it and see what happens.

Thanks again TEFL Academy! I would highly recommend this course.

I found the TEFL Academy course brilliant. The course content was fantastic and really helped me through the course. I’ve been able to learn a lot about teaching, which will help me in the future. The feedback was also very helpful, too. Overall, I was hugely impressed with the whole experience.

I thought that it was a well written and well taught course. My in class tutor was excelent and really helpful and made the two days most enjoyable. The online course was interesting and helpful also and made me realise some improvements that I can make in my current teaching role. Luckily I found employment well before completing the full online course but I am so glad that I stuck at it whilst already having a full time TEFL job abroad as it has been very helpful for my job here and gives me a whole world of opportunities if I decide to leave my company.

We had a 20 hour teaching weekend in Glasgow. The teacher was rigorous, kind and professional.

I found it difficult to do the 100 hours on-line, and a friend helped with the computer. For instance, I did not understand how to zip my work.

I respected the feedback tutors. They responded promptly. They did not automatically pass my work. Once, I was asked to resubmit. Perhaps their comments needed to be dated. Once or twice, I was not sure which comment predated which.

I think that the course materials need to be checked for errors. Once or twice, there seemed to be grammar slips in them.

I had taught English abroad full-time, and it helped me very much to learn how to prepare lessons.

I liked the courtesy that I received throughout the course. For instance, the telephone was answered quickly, and the attitudes were patient and helpful.

Just received my Certificate from the TEFL Academy. I started the course February last year but needed more time to complete it as was working long hours. But now I’ve done it makes me feel so proud of myself.

The 20 hours course was such a good start to the whole thing. I really enjoyed creating lessons and learning about teaching abroad.

I think this course is the best opportunity for young people to go around the world doing something that they like. I think TEFL is a great course and I really enjoyed it. Good luck everyone. 😉

In the back of my mind I had always thought about doing the TEFL course but never got round to booking one. I have recently graduated from University and when I finished I decided to enrol on the TEFL 120 hours combined course which has been a great decision. The TEFL qualification opens up so many doors with working overseas and gaining experience or it can be a way to start your English teaching career.

The 20 hours classroom experience was excellent, our tutor Ann was supportive, motivating and made the lessons so fun. Her experience and stories about the countries she has lived in and the lessons she has taught encouraged us even more. It was also a great way to meet new & like minded people. Yes, it is intense especially 20 hours over the weekend but it is so worth it, at the end of the weekend we each got our 20 hours certificate and an email explaining the next part of the qualification which is self study and a series of modules. It was so impressive that in the 20 hours we also got lots of resources, lessons plans and templates to assist us when we would do the self study so my tip would be to use the materials for when you plan your own lessons. Each module online is easy to follow, there is guidelines, information, examples and to make it even better, if you have any problems you can contact one of the tutors who are always helpful and get back quickly if you have any questions. I recently got my certificate through the post and I will be working in Spain very soon.

My advice to anyone even thinking about enrolling in a TEFL course is do it now, you definitely won’t regret it. TEFL certainly welcomes people from all walks of life and it really lets your personality come through in your lessons. Once you have the 120 hours qualification you will be amazed at the opportunities to teach abroad that you receive! It is very exciting, Good Luck & Thank You TEFL Academy!

My entire career, up until I enrolled on the TEFL Academy course on the last weekend of November, 2014, had been spent in the media industry where I had(and still have if i want to) a very successful career as a news and sports reporter/presenter. My father and mother were teachers and so are two of my brothers and I’ve always been fascinated in languages and travelling. So I decided to take the plunge and enrol with the Academy. Their website looked fun and interesting compared to the others which seemed ‘heavy’ and a bit boring and dull. The other courses seemed more suitable for academics which put me off. Our tutor, Joe, was great fun..a really nice guy and he made the classroom teaching (20 hour part of the course) really interesting and varied. He spurred me on to succeed. His teaching and the way he put everything across was just right for me. I had all the life, social and communication skills. It was then just a matter of knuckling down and completing 100 hours of online tuition. I have to admit, I was dreading that part. But surprisingly, as soon as I started, I really enjoyed it. The modules were great, the website easy and clear in terms of instructions and the feedback terrific as is the backup for anyone who needs to ask questions or needs guidance. You are not left alone like other rival organisations I hear about. The Academy staff are friendly and want to help you succeed-even though at the end of the day, it is all down to you. I made up my mind to complete the course as quickly as possible. I passed on January 24, 2015 after attending the classroom course at he end of November, 2014. I feel very, very proud. It’s a great feeling considering I have not studied for over 30 years!!

I would recommend anyone who wants a TEFL qualification to look no further than the Academy. They are at the top of their game. Getting this qualification for me has and will change my life. Take a bow the TEFL Academy!

I took the 120 hour course which included 20 hours f2f teaching. The course tutor was excellent and her instruction was sufficiently memorable that I was able to draw on this practice when writing my assignments. I felt the assignments covered the essentials of current teaching theory and provided a good grounding for developing one’s own practice. The practice lesson plans were very valuable, however, I felt I would need extra tuition than what was available for developing my own scheme of work. Comments from the on-line assessors were thorough and helpful and the TEFL Academy administrative staff were always quick to respond to any queries. Over all I would highly recommend this course as an introduction to teaching English as a second language.
